LEARN HOW TO MAKE GREAT SPREADSHEETS

How often do you come across a well designed spreadsheet like the one above that's simple to understand and easy to update for new data?

Unless you're in the lucky minority, you probably won't see many spreadsheets that look great and work well. It turns out that most spreadsheets are made by people who don’t have the right training to make great spreadsheets.

In fact, over time most spreadsheets can turn into monsters that are difficult to use, hard to update quickly and full of formula errors. Sound familiar?

Let's take a look at the hidden costs of bad spreadsheets in business.

The Cost of Bad Spreadsheets

Spreadsheet risk experts warn that bad spreadsheets are frequently the cause of poor business decisions and financial blunders.

Spreadsheet errors have been blamed for numerous high-profile corporate meltdowns. In 2012, a spreadsheet error in a UK rail franchise bid process cost the UK taxpayer about £60 million.

And reports suggest that a famous investment bank lost $250m because of a spreadsheet slipup in 2013.

Poor spreadsheet practice is a global issue. And there seems to be widespread acceptance that spreadsheet mistakes are simply part of working with spreadsheets.

It doesn't have to be this way!

Here's the alternative

What if you could make spreadsheets that are easy to use, accurate and easy to update?

By mastering the skills of great spreadsheet design and learning how to take spreadsheets for a test drive, you will make spreadsheet terror a thing of the past.

- Michael Edwards

"The concept of making great spreadsheets have always been overlooked — everyone just seemed to dive in and get their hands dirty right away, and that's why most spreadsheets are for personal use only, and cannot be shared with others.

Your concepts for spreadsheet design were well-structured to guide users to go through the design checklist... In all, great job!"

Frequently Asked Questions

When does the course start and finish?
The course starts as soon as you enroll. It is a self-paced online course and you decide when to start and finish. We advise you complete the course over one or two weeks, and then take a couple weeks break before coming back to review the course. Doing this will reinforce your learning and give you time to practice the skills inside.
How long do I have access to the course?
How does lifetime access sound? After enrolling, you have unlimited access to this course for as long as you like - across any and all devices you own.
Who is this course for?
This course is best for Excel users who are familiar with Excel's built-in tools but have not had any training in how to create spreadsheets. You need to be comfortable with the idea of how to write formulas, and it will help to have some knowledge of Excel tables. This course is not suitable if you have not yet mastered the basics of Excel, because it assumes intermediate level competency.
How long will the course take to complete?
If you are already familiar with some of Excel's built-in tools (see question "Who is this course for?") then it will take you about 4 - 6 hours to watch the videos and complete the homework. You could set aside a whole day to complete watching every lesson and doing the homework exercises, OR alternatively we advise that you space the learning over a week or two weeks. If you space the learning with one lesson every day, your unconscious mind has time to think over the concepts and form mental chunks of understanding. These mental chunks will make it much easier to remember and master the material over the long term.
What if I am not satisfied with the course?
If you enroll on the course I want you to have a great experience. At the end of each module there is a comment section that you can use to give feedback. I will personally read every comment and use it to improve the course. If you don't have a great experience then contact me by email (you can find my email address in the comments section).
What payment methods do you accept?
We currently accept major credit cards (Visa, Master Card, American Express) and Paypal (USD transactions only). If you have any trouble enrolling because you are unable to complete a payment, email [email protected] with the subject "Excel Boot Camp Course - payment trouble" and describe your problem with making a payment.
What is the refund policy?
If you are not satisfied with the course (for instance you enroll in the course and find it is too easy or too hard) I will refund 100% of your payment. Just make sure you ask for the refund within 30 days of enrolling.
I have a question that's not answered above. How can I contact you?
You can reach me by emailing [email protected]. Ask me any question about the course and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
